Why Breast Augmentation & Breast Lift?

Our breasts naturally change over time with aging, weight gain or weight loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding, hormonal factors and, of course, gravity.

Combining a Breast Augmentation with a Breast Lift is an effective and enduring way to restore or enhance the breast contour, shape and position of the breasts. What’s more, as these procedures are usually performed at the same time, clients benefit from only one surgery, one set of hospital and surgeon fees, one period under general anaesthetic and one recovery period.*

During this procedure, our skilled CosMediTour Surgeons remove excess skin to reshape and tighten the breast contour over a Breast Implant.

This surgical combination is suited to clients seeking to:

    • Increase Breast Size
    • Restore Breast Volume
    • Address Breast Ptsosis (sagging) by restoring natural breast ‘perkiness’
    • Correct Asymmetries
    • Acheive a More Rounded Shape
    • Reshape Breast Contour
    • Enhance Projection
    • Lift the Nipple Position
    • Reduce the Size of the Areola if enlarged over time

If ptosis (sagging) is particularly severe, your Plastic Surgeons may recommend two surgeries—the first to remove excess tissue and lift the breasts and the second to place the implants.  This is a rare occurrence and will be discussed with you during your initial consultations with your Plastic Surgeon.

    Breast Augmentation & Lift Recovery.

Recovery periods vary from person to person. Clients must rest for 2 weeks after their procedure and allow 4 – 6 weeks for recovery. Healing is an individual process but a full recovery generally takes place over 6 – 9 months. During this time, the implants will settle into their final position. Scars can take up to 18 months to fade.

    Breast Augmentation & Lift Risks.

When considering any surgical procedure, it is important to understand that despite choosing a skilled plastic surgeon, receiving care in a premium hospital, and following recovery protocols, all surgical procedures carry risk and complications can still occur.

Plan for at least 2 weeks downtime after surgery. Initial discomfort will subside within the first few days and, after the first week, you’ll be able to resume driving. You’ll wear a post-surgical support garment for 6 weeks, and your Surgeon will advise when you can reintroduce exercise.

    We're Here To Help.

    Frequently Asked Questions.

A great decision starts with great questions; so ask us as many as you can to see if Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift surgery is right for you. To help you get started, here are the answers to the questions we’re most commonly asked.

How long will my recovery take?

Generally, you’ll be able to return to work within 1 – 2 weeks, however, everyone has a different journey (and a different style of work) so your own recovery time may vary. Car travel should be kept to a minimum for the initial 2 weeks post-surgery, with extra care taken with seatbelts. As with all aspects of your recovery, your Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice.

How long before I can exercise again?

Generally, 8 – 12 weeks post-surgery is the time before arm and chest muscle exercises can be reintroduced, however, the length of your recovery may vary depending on your procedure and anatomy. High impact aerobic activities, running, jumping or jogging should not be resumed before you have completely recovered, as this can drastically affect your surgical results. As with all aspects of your recovery, your Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice.

Will I experience a lot of pain?

Everyone has a different pain threshold, so it’s not possible to predict exactly how you’ll feel. Mild, moderate or sometimes even severe discomfort is normal and your pain will generally start to ease after 1-2 weeks. As with all aspects of your recovery, your Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice on pain management and prescribe medication as required.

How long do breast implants last?

Although it’s a common concern, most women with breast implants breastfeed with little to no concerns at all. The small percentage of women who have come across complications with breastfeeding are generally impacted by the incision site of the implant or the type of surgery they have. It’s important to note that many women with or without breast implants, can have complications when it comes to breastfeeding.

Can I breastfeed after a Breast Augmentation?

This is a common concern but, luckily, most women with breast implants breastfeed with little to no problems at all. The small percentage of women who have experienced complications with breastfeeding are generally impacted by the incision site of the implant, or the type of surgery they have. It’s important to note that even women without implants can have complications when it comes to breastfeeding. Learn more in our blog, ‘Breastfeeding and Breast Surgery’.

How long does Breast Augmentation surgery take?

Around one hour is the standard surgery time for Breast Augmentation. As with all aspects of your journey, your Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice on the timing for your procedure.

When can I start wearing an underwire bra?

Generally, an underwire bra should not be worn for the first 8-weeks following surgery, rather you will need to wear a support garment to aid your recovery. As with all aspects of your recovery, your Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice on the garment and timing that’s right for you.

Do I need a support garment after surgery?

Yes, you do. Wearing a post-surgery compression support garment for six weeks is critical to your recovery. It aids with the management of swelling and healing of your incisions.

How long will I need to be off work after surgery?

Depending on the type of work, clients generally return to work within 1 – 2 weeks. If your job involves strenuous exercise or heavy lifting, this timeframe may be extended. As with all aspects of your procedure, your Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice and a recovery timeline tailored to suit you.

How long do I need to wait before driving?

Car travel should be kept to a minimum for the initial 2 weeks post-surgery, with extra care taken with seatbelts. As with all aspects of your recovery, your Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice on when you can safely commence driving.

Should I Wait Until After I Have Children Before Breast Surgery?

This is a personal choice. Many of our clients have breast surgery long before planning for children, while others are seeking a Breast Lift and Augmentation to restore their shape after childbirth. As you consider your timing, bear in mind there can be significant changes to your breasts during and post-pregnancy, and breastfeeding that will alter the way your natural breasts look.

How long after pregnancy can I have a Breast Lift?

As a guide, we generally recommend waiting until 6 months after breastfeeding. This allows enough time for the completion of post-pregnancy changes to your breasts and enables your Surgeon to more accurately determine what’s required to deliver the best result. Bear in mind that weight loss can impact the results of your surgery, so it’s also worth considering this when making your decision.
