Thigh Lift.

Offered in Sydney, a Thigh Lift, or Thighplasty, is a Plastic Surgery procedure that reshapes and refines the thigh by reducing excess skin tissue and fat from the upper thigh area. While motivations vary, many of our Thigh Lift clients are wanting to improve the appearance of their thighs, minimise cellulite or thigh dimples, reduce chaffing and in some cases, even improve mobility. Thigh Lifts are commonly performed on both men and women. A range of techniques can be used to smooth and sculpt the area, and liposuction can be incorporated in cases of stubborn fat pockets and cellulite.

    What is a Thigh Lift?

A Thighplasty involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the upper thigh area, resulting in a smoother, more sculpted contour. The different surgical approaches your Surgeon may consider include:

    • Mini Thigh Lifts target skin and fat in the upper-inner part of the thigh and are suited to clients with minimal excess tissue. This procedure is less invasive than those below
    • Medial Thigh Lift targets the inner thigh around to the back of the thigh
    • Bilateral Thigh Lift targets the outer thigh around to the back of the thigh
    • Vertical Thigh Lift is suited to clients with significant excess tissue

To ensure long-lasting results, we recommend clients maintain a stable weight for at least 6 months prior to their surgery.

    Thigh Lift Recovery.

Recovery periods vary from person to person; however, clients must rest for 3 weeks after their Thighplasty and allow 10 weeks for post-surgery recovery. Healing is an individual process but a full recovery generally takes place over 3 – 6 months. During this time, the scars will begin to fade.

    Thigh Lift Risks.

When considering any surgical procedure, it is important to understand that despite choosing a skilled plastic surgeon, receiving care in a premium hospital, and following recovery protocols, all surgical procedures carry risk and complications can still occur.

    Your Surgeon Consultation

Meet with your Plastic Surgeon to discuss your desired outcomes and plan your procedure. Your Surgeon will assess your body composition and the amount and type of tissue to be removed before recommending the best Thigh Lift approach for you.

    Your Plastic Surgery

    Your Plastic Surgery

Your surgery will take place in one of our state-of-the-art, accredited private hospitals. You will be placed under general anaesthetic for the duration of the procedure (typically 2 hours). Once complete, and assuming good health, most patients can return home 2 to 3 hours after they wake.

    Veneer Review and Refinement

    Your Recovery Period

Plan for at least 3 weeks downtime. This is when normal activities and work can resume for most clients. While the effects of your Thigh Lift will be felt immediately, the results may not be visible until swelling subsides, and this can take up to 10 weeks. A full recovery will take place after 3 months.

    We're Here To Help.

    Frequently Asked Questions.

To make sure Thigh Lift surgery is the right choice for you, we encourage you to ask as many questions as you can. To help you get started, we’ve listed the answers to questions we’re most commonly asked.

What are the scars like from a Thigh Lift?

Scarring from Thigh Lift incisions look like raised lines on your skin. In most cases, these lines can be concealed in the groin crease, or where they will be hidden by most types of clothing and bathing suits. In cases of extreme excess tissue, an additional scar may be created by an incision that extends from the groin, down the front of the leg to just above the knee.

Your Plastic Surgeon will advise on the techniques and incisions needed to perform your Thigh Lift. They will also provide advice on how you can further reduce the appearance of your scars with post-surgery care.

How long will it take to recover after a Thigh Lift?

As the incisions are made in the groin and upper leg area, sitting for an extended period can be uncomfortable after surgery.

Most clients require at least 3 weeks off work, driving, and normal activities.

Strenuous activity should be avoided for at least 6 weeks, and swelling will subside after 10 weeks.

A full recovery can be expected around 3 months after surgery.

It’s important to note that everyone heals at a different rate. Your Plastic Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice on your recovery timeframe.

Can I just have Liposuction instead of Thigh Lift surgery?

Liposuction is designed to remove fat cells only—it won’t work to remove excess skin. In some cases, performing liposuction alone can actually make your thigh area look worse, as it causes even more excess loose skin to develop.

Your Plastic Surgeon will assess the amount and type of excess tissue present on your thighs (fat, skin, or both) and recommend the best approach to address it.

    Is a Thigh Lift painful?

All clients experience pain differently. Some clients may experience mild discomfort after surgery, while others will experience more severe symptoms. Your Plastic Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice on how to manage pain and prescribe pain relief medication as required.

Will I need to wear a post-surgery support garment after a Thigh Lift?

Yes. Wearing a post-surgery support garment is critical to your recovery. This compression-style garment will help to manage your swelling, aid in the healing of your incisions, and contribute to your overall Thigh Lift results. Plastic Surgeons generally advise these be worn for at least 6 weeks, however you will receive tailored during your consultations.

How long will I need away from work after a Thigh Lift?

Depending on the type of work, clients generally return to work within 2 – 3 weeks. If your job involves strenuous exercise or heavy lifting, this timeframe may be extended. As with all aspects of your Thigh Lift procedure, your Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice and a recovery timeline tailored to suit you.

How long after a Thigh Lift do I need to wait before driving ?

We recommend Thigh Lift clients avoid driving for 2 – 3 weeks after their surgery. As with all aspects of your recovery, your Surgeon will provide you with personalised advice on when you can safely commence driving.
